Jayson Tatum Injury Update: Celtics Star Injured in Game 4, Set to Undergo MRI on Tuesday

Boston, MA – May 13, 2025 — The Boston Celtics may be facing a significant hurdle as star forward Jayson Tatum suffered an apparent injury during Game 4 of their playoff series. Tatum appeared to tweak his leg in the second half and was seen limping noticeably before being subbed out late in the fourth quarter.

The extent of the injury remains unclear, but the team confirmed that Tatum is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the issue.

“He felt some discomfort and we didn’t want to take any chances,” said Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla in a postgame press conference. “We’ll know more after the MRI.”

Tatum has been instrumental in Boston's playoff push, averaging over 25 points per game this postseason. His health is crucial for the Celtics, who are looking to make a deep run in hopes of returning to the NBA Finals.

Teammates and fans alike are holding their breath for a positive update, with more information expected to be released following Tuesday’s medical evaluation
